If you hang out around my Twitch channel long enough, you’ll hear me mention a group known as Fashion Check. But what is this mysterious and fashionable group?
The group started as a joke between my friends and I while playing The Secret World MMO. When gearing up for a dungeon run, someone would inevitably be taking forever, only to later admit they had been changing their character’s outfit to match the dungeon. It became a running joke to call for a “Fashion Check” before entering a dungeon. What good was fighting monsters if your outfit didn’t look appropriate for the situation?
Over time the small group grew, our members bonding over in-game cosmetics rather than combat strategies. We began to group up in more games, such as Destiny 2 and Conan Exiles. Everywhere we go, we quickly figure out how the cosmetics system of the game works and start to gather our outfits. Hard to get cosmetics became our team goals.
Many members have some sort of creative pursuit, whether that is in Twitch streaming, art, writing, or coding. One thing has remained constant across mediums: the Fashion Check crew will always cover each others’ backs when someone needs to stop and do something for the aesthetic.
